Adoption Center HoursMon-Fri 10AM-8PM
Visit the Midland's most productive animal rescue operation. PETS, Inc. places nearly 3,000 animals each year. Our modest Adoption Center houses approximately 200 homeless animals at all times. The adoption programs are supported by our discount pet food and supply store within the Adoption Building. Our Neuter Scooter Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic now offers discounted vaccines, heartworm tests and other basic veterinary services through our Cheap Shots program. You'll find a small but friendly doggie park that is open to the public seven days a week.
Volunteers Always Needed
We always welcome volunteers who will work or play with the animals, but we also need help with community programs and administration tasks.

Now your pets' food and supplies can fund the rescue and vet care for homeless animals
Our friends at the Babcock Center conducted a "Dollars for Dogs" fundraiser for our shelter dogs, then spent the afternoon with us giving our dogs and cats lap time and lots of exercise. What a wonderful day it was!
The special efforts of the Safe Cat Coalition, The City of West Columbia and PETS, Inc. have be enormously successful in reducing the population of homeless cats in West Columbia.
We are excited about this opportunity to prove that managed colonies can be a workable approach. With so much to be done, we need more help. If you are able to volunteer or donate please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Pet Food Recalls!
Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula for dogs and cats has been recalled after plastic was found in some of the bags, posing a possible choking risk to pets, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Kasel Associated Industries has issued yet another recall for its Jerky Treats, Pig Ears and other trreats due to Salmonella contamination. It seems that the FDA's tests found 48 out of 87 samples collected were contaminated. They found 10 different species of the Salmonella in both the products and the manufactuiing facility ... indicating multiple sources of contamination. The Kasel products were distributed through Sam's Club, Petco, Target & Costco. For more information visit the FDA's web site at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm340552.htm. They are urging people to be especially careful in handling these contaminated products when elderly, infants and people with impaired immune systems are present as Salmonella can cause serious illness and even fatal infections.
Alert! Check the recall list today!
Pet food recalls continue to appear more frequently each year. The latest recall of foods and treats made with chicken imported from China is particularly concerning because it is a repeat of the problems with chicken imported from China in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. We must spread the word so caring pet parents will not purchase pet food (of any kind) from manufacturers who care more about profits than providing safe products to their customers.
The recall of chicken jerky treats is being resisted by most manufacturers so the treats are still on the store shelves. The FDA is warning pet parents to watch their pets for signs of kidney failure. Symptoms include decreased appetite, decreased activity, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes with blood), increased water consumption and/or increased urination.
FDA's List of 2012 Pet Food Recalls ... add Diamond Pet Foods April 7th Recall
Take a good look at the manufacturers on the FDA's recall list and ask yourself if you should be paying them to poison your pets? When we let these manufacturers know that we won't tolerate this, they will stop sourcing the cheapest ingredients they can find. Meanwhile you can spend your money with reputable companies who don't compromise quality when they purchase ingredients.
